Ava Hogan will represent Ireland in the 2026 Associations Cup.

Skyvalley Rovers player Ava Hogan is part of the SFAI Ireland U-14 girls' football squad playing at the 2026 Associations Cup which starts today (Friday).

The Taughmaconnell native plays her club football with Skyvalley Rovers and will represent Ireland U-14s Girls team at the Associations Cup Tournament this weekend. Ireland (Green) will take on Northern Ireland at 6pm this evening (Friday) in the University of Limerick.

Skyvalley Rovers Secretary and U-14 girls coach, Louisa Brooks has expressed her pride in Ava’s international call up.

“Ava started at U-7s and she was been with the club since then, She has grown throughout with all the various teams and she represents us with the RDYSL (Roscommon District Youth Soccer League).

"The Roscommon Herald had a piece in the paper this week about them having a tremendous tournament and representing Roscommon, winning the (Gaynor) Shield down in Limerick. Ava was very much a part of that and an engine room of that team.”

Louisa states that Ava’s talent was on full display when she helped Castlesampson NS reach the Connacht final in the FAI Primary 5’s Schools competition last year.

The Skyvalley Rovers Secretary hopes that Ava enjoys her experience of lining out for her country as she follows in the path of her neighbour Katelyn Keogh, who has previously represented Ireland at underage level.

“Certainly getting more experience will be valuable for her. There is tremendous pride seeing someone in our club wearing the Irish jersey. It is a huge honour for us and we are hoping she will do her very best. She has such a huge work ethic and a tremendous drive in her. The sky is the limit. You are talking about Women’s World Cup and there is no doubt we will see her there one day.”

The daughter of Aidan and Caroline Hogan is among a group of 34 players (divided into two squads of 17) chosen to play against Northern Ireland and Isle of Man at the three day competition in the University of Limerick.

The Coláiste Chiaráin student is part the Ireland Green squad. They will play Isle of Man on Saturday morning before facing Ireland White later that afternoon.

The final and third/fourth place play offs will be held on Sunday.

Ava was part of the Roscommon and District Youth and Schoolboy/Girls League's academy team which won the Gaynor Cup Shield competition earlier this month.

She has fond memories of the Gaynor Cup, her wondergoal at the 2025 competition was selected as the Goal of the Tournament.
