Teams turn attention to national finals

The Roscommon/Kilteevan U-14 girls' cross country mixed relay team that represent the county in next weekend's Community Games national finals.
Gormanstown and Kilcullen, County Meath, are the host areas for the second round of the Community Games national finals next weekend.
Gormanstown will host the basketball, cross-country mixed distance relays and marathon on Saturday, May 27th. It will also host the indoor Futsal, handball, table-tennis, badminton and cycling-on-grass competitions on Sunday, May 28th. Kilcullen Community Centre will be the venue for the indoor soccer events.
Roscommon will be represented in team events in basketball, mixed distance relays, Futsal, badminton and indoor soccer, alongside the cross-country mixed distance relay competitions.
Roscommon teams that won their Connacht finals include the Castlerea U-16 boys’ basketball team, Ballaghaderrenn in both the U-13 and U-15 girls’ Futsal, Taughmaconnell U-10 girls’ indoor soccer team, Strokestown U-13 boys’ indoor soccer team, FBD Roads U-15 girls’ badminton team.
The cross country mixed relay teams did not have a provincial final, so they will be competing with all the other counties at the national finals. The Roscommon teams will be Drum/Clonown U-12 girls, Kiltoom/Cam U-12 boys and Roscommon/Kilteevan U-14 girls.
In individual events, the Tarmonbarry/Scramogue area will represent the county in the U-13 girls’ and boys’ handball with Eoin Grehan and Caoimhe O’Gara. Castlerea girls, Sarah Neary and Jessica Finan, will be the cycle-on-grass competitors in the U-12 and U-14 events.
The Roscommon teams alongside all other teams from Connaucht will meet teams from Ulster in their semi-finals, while Leinster teams will meet Munster in the other semi-finals.
All the competitors are wished the very best of luck in their events. Roscommon Community Games hope that they will bring home a fair share of the silverware. A big thank you to managers, coaches, and parents for getting their competitors to the national finals.
