Local Notes: Swimming camps, road closure and ladies night out

The Windmill Classic held on Sunday last attracted a great entry.
A golf memorial four ball scramble will be held at Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club on Saturday, June 28th, four person team fee of €200, tee from 11 a.m., includes green fees, food and donation to Hospice. This event is held each year in memory Michael Moran, Mantua who died in January 2023. Proceeds will go to Mayo Roscommon Hospice.
Thank you to the huge number of cyclists that took part in the Windmill Classic on Sunday last across Roscommon and into Leitrim. Special thanks to all the volunteers, club members and non-club members that made it possible.
Elphin bingo is held every Monday at 8.30 p.m. in Elphin Community Centre.
Irish Water safety swimming camp returns this July at Roscommon Leisure Centre, Monday July 14th to Friday, July 18th. Lesson 10:30 a.m./11:20 a.m. (5 X 50min lessons), ages six to 13 years. Bus departs Elphin Community Centre at 9:25 a.m. sharp, Bawn Street, Strokestown 9.45 a.m.. Return time Strokestown 12:05, Elphin 12:15. The Tuesday traditional music sessions in the Tower Inn, Elphin continue to provide a great night’s entertainment and visiting musicians or followers will be made very welcome any Tuesday after 8 p.m.. Thank you to everyone who came along and enjoyed the singing session over the bank holiday weekend.

A massive congratulations and well done to the U-13 Féile rounders winners who won silverware last week in Clann na nGael. Well done to all.
Please note the road closure on the N61 Tulsk to Boyle, which affects the Elphin area. The diversion is via the N5 at Tulsk, as far as Frenchpark and onto the R361 Boyle Road. And via R369 in both directions at Shankill cross. This road closure is to facilitate the N5 road project. Please note the Blackstick Road is for local access only and speed checks are in place along this road. This road is not safe for walkers at the moment.
The mobile library is in Elphin (Main Street) every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3.30 p.m..

TFI Local Link Longford Westmeath would like to remind all passengers using the 570 service of the diversion taking place in the area due to road works. This will continue until August 25th. Croghan National School Parents' Association will host a ladies night out with stylist Maria Carton, in the Croghan Bar on this Friday, June 13th, commencing 9 p.m.. Tickets €20 (inc. glass Prosecco), available from Croghan Bar or from the school office. Music on the night with Martin Boston. All proceeds going to Croghan National School.
A Mass of Healing will take place in the Patrician Hall, Cortober on this Friday, June 13th at 7.30 p.m.. All are welcome to attend.

Cavetown CE scheme has vacancies for general operatives. Duties will include the upkeep of all amenity areas, grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, litter and weed control, upkeep of flowerbeds and shrubs and landscaping.
