A woman in her 70s is in critical condition following a single-vehicle collision in Co Kerry.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the crash on the N23 at Lisheenbaun, Castleisland, at around 11.40pm on Wednesday, December 10th.

The female driver and sole occupant of the car was brought from the scene to Kerry University Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The road is closed pending a technical examination to be conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place via Currow Village, and the N21 Castleisland-Tralee and N22 Tralee-Farranfore roads are not affected.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, and were travelling on the N23 in the Lisheenbaun, Castleisland area between 11.20pm and 11.50pm have been asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
