Local people got to see a partial eclipse which many consider a unique lifetime experience.
Locally Ruth Scutt and her husband David travelled from Roscommon to Valencia to experience the Solar Eclipse while Bill Walsh captured some amazing photos of the eclipse over Roscommon Town.
Large crowds gathered in cities and towns across the country while special events were organised for people to enjoy the phenomenon together.
Warnings had been issued about eye protection which resulted in some unique choices to observe the event with everything from cereal boxes to welding masks used.
It was in 1999 when the last significant eclipse was visible in Ireland.
