Airport passenger numbers increase by 11% in Q1

9.1 million passengers passed through the five main Irish airports in the first quarter of 2026, figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show.

This is an increase of 11 per cent on the same period last year.

The number of flights to and from Irish airports in Q1 2026 increased by 12 per cent to 64,656 from 57,940 in Q1 2025.

Dublin airport handled 84 per cent of all flights with 54,494, followed by Cork airport with seven per cent at 4,731.

London-Heathrow, Amsterdam-Schiphol, and Manchester were the most popular routes for passengers travelling through Dublin airport in the first quarter of this year.

The top route for both Cork and Shannon airports was London-Heathrow, while the top route for Knock and Kerry airports was London-Luton.
