Boyle eagerly awaits return of Night and Day Festival
Acclaimed Beatles tribute band ‘The Mersey Beatles’ are lined up to play again at this Year's Night and Day Festival at Lough Key Forest Park in Boyle.
Bell X1, Damien Dempsey, Gemma Hayes, Ash, The Undertones, Mick Flannery, Morgana and Cork group, The Frank and Walters are among the household names taking to the stage at this year’s Night and Day Festival.
The festival returns to Boyle on Friday, June 28th to Sunday, June 30th inclusive. The festival, now in its third year, will once again take place in the surrounds of Lough Key Forest Park.
One of the major acts to perform at this year’s festival is Beatles tribute band ‘The Mersey Beatles’. The group is universally recognised as the definitive Beatles tribute experience and sold out the last Dublin show in the Olympia Theatre.
The group takes to the main stage on the Friday. Tickets for the opening day are €50 with the Mersey Beatles playing a full two hour show accompanied by a spectacular visual display, which will arguably be one of the highlights of the festival.
The festival is a strictly over 20s event, but those under 14 can enter for free when accompanied by an adult.
There is a full family friendly itinerary to keep the children entertained, including immersive circus performances, musical workshops and cultural exhibitions, making Night and Day one of the most family friendly festivals taking place this year.
As well as featuring top quality Irish and international acts, this year’s festival will also showcase new and emerging performers as well as local groups, playing to enthusiastic lovers of music over the three days of the festival.
Two such groups are Ballaghaderreen act ‘Death Milkshake’ a musical creation of Wes Pollington from Willowbrook Glamping and Grooveline from Carrick on Shannon, an up and coming young band.
Craig Hughes, one of the main festival promoters says ticket demand has been unprecedented ahead of the festival. He is advising those who wish to attend and who have yet to purchase tickets to do so right away. “We’re delighted with the reaction to this year’s Night and Day Festival. Demand for weekend camping, weekend and day tickets has been immense, particularly in recent weeks with only a limited number of tickets remaining. This year promises to be our best ever festival and we’re delighted with the reaction to date.
“Once again, this year’s festival features a top class line-up of artists, who have enjoyed national and global success. Many of the acts performing enjoyed success over four decades and we’re delighted to have such a line-up of acts.
“As with an outdoor festival of this nature, we would urge those attending to come well prepared, particularly for the Irish weather! We would also urge concert goers to allow themselves plenty of time when travelling to event and familiarise themselves with the concert schedule.
“Conscious of our responsibilities as an environmentally friendly event, we are also urging concert goers to minimise their carbon footprint by availing of public transport and to use our facilities in a responsible manner, leaving ‘no trace’ and appropriately using bins and waste facilities provided.
“The unique setting of Lough Key Forest Park will provide a great sense of occasion for the weekend, providing a quality, comfortable experience for those visiting. We’d like to acknowledge the support of our partners and the wider community of Boyle for their loyal and generous support,” said Craig.
