Social Inclusion Workshop

First Year students participated in a Social Inclusion workshop last Thursday which was organised by Ms O’ Connor. The students had the opportunity to listen to personal experiences of autistic students, students with hearing impairments and students from various cultural backgrounds. The then participated in an activity to help understand how they can make our school community more inclusive. Thank you to all the students who helped facilitate the workshop and to the Roscommon Social Inclusion Unit of Roscommon County Council for helping to make the event possible.

Horse riding in Athlone

Students from the Autism Centre enjoyed a wonderful morning horse riding in Athlone where they also learned some basic tips on how to care for the horses. This was the first in a series of outings that the students will enjoy. Thank you very much to Roscommon Sports Partnership for funding this wonderful initiative.

Discovering Local Art

Ms Kincaid’s First Year art class brought the curriculum to life on their recent tour around Roscommon Town. They visited some local examples of sculpture, learning about the process and styles that sculptors use in their art. What a fantastic way to experience the subject.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

First-Year students, along with their teachers Ms Quinn and Ms Doyle, participated in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal where they prepared shoeboxes filled with essential items that will be delivered to children in need this Christmas. Well done to everyone involved!

Fundraising for the Simon Community

Andrea Fitzgerald of the Galway Simon Community visited the school last week to present Transition-Year students with a plaque and a cheque in response to their fundraiser. The students raised over €1,200 for the Simon Community which will be used to help support people facing homelessness. Well done to everyone on their fantastic efforts.

Animation Talk for Senior Art Students

Animator and past pupil Adrian Mulryan made a trip to CBS Roscommon to speak with senior art students about creative career possibilities. He is working in the VFX/Animation Industry and gave the students a wonderful insight into his work as an animator. Thank you to Adrian for taking the time to speak with the students about his career. It is always wonderful to welcome back past students.
