BOYLE LADIES GAA CLUB CELEBRATES 20 YEARS 

On Saturday, September 12th Boyle Ladies GAA Club will host a programme of events to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The day will commence with the Daly Cup tournament in Abbey Park for U-13 teams from surrounding clubs. This will be followed at 5.30 p.m. by the Adrian Brogan Memorial Walk with donations going to Mayo Roscommon Hospice. Registration from 4.45 p.m. at Abbey Park. Following the walk the club invites all to join it for refreshments and memories in the clubhouse.

Thank you for supporting the fundraising dance on August 21st at The Four Provinces, your generosity will support Vincentian Lay Missionaries (VLN) projects in Masanga, Tanzania.

SPCA FUNDRAISING STREET COLLECTION 

Roscommon SPCA will hold a fundraising street collection in Boyle on Friday, September 11th. Volunteers will be collecting during the day at various locations throughout the town. The SPCA would be so grateful for your kind support as every donation, big or small, helps the group to continue rescuing, caring for and providing vital veterinary treatment for animals in need. All donations collected on the day go directly to animal welfare in County Roscommon.

CAMERA CLUB 

Boyle Camera Club is always looking for new members so that everyone can learn from each other - beginners, intermediate and advanced categories. Whether you are using your mobile phone/digital camera/drone come and see what the club is about on Tuesday, September 8th at St. Joseph’s Resource Centre, F52 N260, from 8 – 10 p.m.. The club meets on the second Tuesday of every month except August.

LATE MRS PATRICIA HOPKINS 

The death occurred last week of well-known Boyle organist and pianist, Mrs Patricia Hopkins, Abbeytown, Boyle, and formerly of Felton, Boyle. Known as Annie, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the wonderful care of the staff in Drumderrig Nursing Home. Boyle Musical Society noted that she spent most of her life immersed in music and was the former organist in St. Joseph's Church in Boyle. She was also involved in some of the earliest Boyle Musical Society productions, taking on the roles of assistant musical director and rehearsal pianist for the group’s first four shows and leading the orchestra as pianist in the 1985 production of 'Showboat'. Predeceased by her husband, Andrew, her parents, Christopher and Florence Feely and her brother, Paddy, Patricia is sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters, Mary and Carmel (Kevin); sisters, Mary Gannon and Florence Mitchell; brother, Brendan Feely (U.S.A) (Marge); grandson, Andrew; godson, Patrick Gannon, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends. Following Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday in St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle she was laid to rest in Assylinn Old Cemetery.

SPEECH & DRAMA CLASSES 

Dwyer School of Speech & Drama will commence classes on Thursday, September 24th in Abbey NS. All ages welcome - primary and secondary, drama, public speaking etc. Contact 087 2219911 before September 10th to register.

SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE 

Boyle Family Resource Centre offers support to children and young people who are dealing with challenging experiences that are likely to impact on their development. For example, boundaries, bullying, anxiety and behavioural issues. The centre also offers one-to-one support and uses various parenting skills that parents can use to improve children’s well-being and their outcomes of the future. Some examples of the support on officer includes improving communication skills, dealing with difficult behaviour, making routines and establishing boundaries. PARENT SUPPORT 

Are you a parent/care-giver of a child with additional needs/diagnosis or awaiting a diagnosis. Would you like to meet other parents of children with additional needs, provide peer support to one another, have guest speakers on topics and information relevant to your circumstances? Boyle Family Resource Centre runs a support group on the last Friday of the month, 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This group is for parents/care-givers only.
