Planning permission is being sought from Roscommon County Council for the extensive refurbishment and reopening of a former pub on Main Street in Elphin.

The planning application, currently at pre-validation stage, includes the renovation of the existing pub building and the conversion of former residential accommodation for use as ancillary public house space.

The applicants also propose the provision of an external courtyard and beer garden featuring a retractable roof and stage, along with alterations to existing buildings and elevations.

The proposed development includes the demolition of an existing rear extension measuring and its replacement with a substantially larger two-storey extension, providing around 114 square metres at ground-floor level and 78 square metres at first-floor level.

Further works would see an existing two-storey granary building, measuring approximately 72 square metres, refurbished and converted for uses associated with the pub.

Rear car parking, a new entrance gate, landscaping, drainage works and other associated site development works are also included as part of the proposals.

County planners are due to make a decision on the application by January 5th 2027.
