Local Notes: Every Step Counts Challenge, film screening and Building Bricks Club

Boyle GAA Club is participating in the Irish Life Every Step Counts Challenge which runs until February 12th. To join download the Irish Life App & register with Boyle GAA to help the club reach the target steps. The club will then be entered into a draw with a chance of winning €2,500 in club funding.

ARDCARNE PARISH GRAVEYARDS COMMITTEE AGM

 The Annual General Meeting of Ardcarne Parish Graveyards Committee was cancelled last week and has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 15th at 8.30 p.m. in the John McGahern Barracks Museum, Cootehall. New members especially welcome.

ECUMENICAL CAROL SERVICE THANKS 

Boyle Church of Ireland would like to thank everyone who attended the recent Ecumenical Carol Service and contributed so generously to the collection for Mayo/Roscommon Hospice, which raised over €1,400. A special thanks to St Joseph’s Folk Group and the children from Boyle Parochial School who performed at the service.

MOYLURG OPEN CROSS COUNTRY 

The Moylurg Open Cross Country race take place at Lough Key Forest Park on Sunday, January 26th. The event is part of the Galway/Roscommon Goal Cross Country Series. On the day there will be four races available for all ages and fitness levels. Race director and local man Seán McDermott is hoping that the clubs from the county and province support this event in preparation for schools’ cross country, the All-Ireland Masters and intermediate and juvenile B championships at Westport House.

STORYTIME

 Storytime takes place at Boyle Library every Saturday at 12 noon.

BUILDING BRICKS CLUB 

Boyle Family Resource Centre hosts a Building Bricks Club for children with additional needs and their siblings ages 4-12. Contact the centre on 0719663000 for further details.

FILM SCREENING 

Boyle Film Club will hold a free screening of Charlie Chaplin’s ‘City Lights’ on Friday, January 17th in the Family Resource Centre. Book your place at boylefilmclub@gmail.com.

MEMORY CAFE

GAA LOTTO 

There was no winner of the Boyle GAA lotto jackpot this week. Match Three winner was Marian Frawley. Jackpot will be €12,300 for next draw.
