BUSY WEKEND FOR BOYLE AC

Boyle AC members had a busy and successful St. Patrick’s weekend.

Melissa Doohan’s come back is continuing at pace with a postpartum best time of 21.24 at the Mullingar parkrun along with being the women's first finisher.

On Sunday, March 16th, 72 participants took to the roads for the Monasteraden 5K. Congratulations to Sheila Cunningham, who claimed first place in the women’s race. Well done to the club and committee members who helped out on the day.

Over 2,000 runners took part in the annual Mullingar Half Marathon—a well-organised and hugely popular race hosted by Mullingar Harriers. The 21.1 km course featured challenging climbs and a scenic stretch along the Royal Canal. Five Boyle AC runners took on the challenge and crossed the finish line with strong performances from Mark Reilly, Denise Flaherty, Fidelma Mullaney, Nance Hayden, and Sinead McQuaid.

Another highly competitive annual event, the Tubbercurry 10K & 5K has long attracted some of the best runners in the country. This year was no exception, with host club South Sligo AC welcoming Irish internationals Sean Tobin and Willie Maunsell, who battled it out for first and second place—separated by just a second at the finish line.

The Boyle colours were proudly on display with great performances from Adrian Taheny and Noelle Taheny in the 5k and in the 10k from Aisling Rock, an impressive 4th place in the women’s race, John Reynolds, and Trish Kane.

It was a fantastic weekend of racing for Boyle AC members—congratulations to everyone involved.

Meanwhile, bad weather was no match for Boyle AC members at the Elphin 8k/5k. Congratulations to Linda Scanlon, who claimed first female and third overall in the 8k with a fantastic time of 35:28. Strong performances also came from Clodagh Sharkey in the 8k, along with Caroline O’Grady and Carmel Goldrick in the 5k.

Well done to everyone who took part and to the organisers for their efforts in challenging conditions. All proceeds from the event go to Down Syndrome Roscommon—a great cause.

Huge congratulations to Helen Beirne and Neil Conlon, who proudly represented Boyle AC at the Dunboyne 10K on Sunday last.. Now in its 54th year, this prestigious race incorporated the Athletics Ireland National Championships, drawing over 1,500 of the country's best runners from clubs across Ireland. The course took athletes through the roads surrounding the County Meath town, finishing with an exciting lap of the Dunboyne AC track. Neil Conlon showed his form is returning to his best, delivering another blistering performance with a superb time of 36:32.

Helen Beirne continued her incredible streak of personal bests, smashing her previous record yet again to set a new Boyle AC Women’s Club Record of 42:11, also securing a fantastic 10th place in her category. A brilliant day for the club - well done to both athletes on their outstanding performances.
