Staff at Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown gathered last week to wish a happy retirement to a staff member who has given years of dedicated service. "Best wishes to Catherine Convey as she marks the end of her time at Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown," said the school. "The staff at Scoil Mhuire gathered to thank Catherine for her many years of service to the school. We wish her all the best in her new venture. Keith Murray presented Catherine with a gift and flowers on behalf of all the staff and Ms O'Donoghue thanked her for her excellent dedication to her work over the years. Many thanks to the social committee members for the cake and treats. All the best Catherine."
Mid-Roscommon Vintage Club is holding its annual harvest festival this Sunday, September 20th, at Lismehy, Strokestown, F42 VN82. There will be a great variety of displays at this year’s event. There will be very interesting items on display so don’t forget the date, September 20th, show commences at 12 noon. See advert in this week’s issue for more details.
Strokestown Comhaltas will hold a branch registration evening followed by a branch meeting on Thursday, September 17th in the Percy French Hotel. New members welcome.
On Friday, September 11th all Fifth Year Mentors at Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown participated in a mentor training day at Strokestown Park House. Mentors enjoyed a morning of interactive activities and worked hard on planning for the year ahead and for some lunchtime games to help First Years get to know each other. Congratulations to all the new mentors and thanks to them for taking on this important role in the school.
A fundraising night with the Kilgefin/Scramogue Choir in aid of Hannah Victory and the Zoe Cryan Trust, hosted By Richard Kennedy, will be held in St Coman's Church of Ireland, Henry Street, Roscommon Town at 7.30 p.m. sharp on September 25th. Progressive 25 continues in Kilglass GAA Centre on Tuesdays at the earlier time of 8.30 p.m.. Last week's winners were 1st, Cathal McHugh, joint 2nd, Margaret Cox, John Compton, Joe Murray; raffle, Tommy Flynn. The winter league starts on this Tuesday, September 15th and continues until Tuesday, December 22nd. New players welcome.
This week's Kilglass Ladies Bonus Ball number was 29. Winners Ella Dowd and Fintan Cruse €50.
In the Kilglass Gaels Lotto held on September 12th the numbers drawn were: 2, 8, 25, 28 Bonus No: 11. There was no jackpot winner, There were two Match 3 number winners €100 each Finn Dooner & Mairead Harte.
