BOYLE

BEREAVED FOLLOWING ROAD TRAGEDY

Des and Margaret Curley have been bereaved by the tragic death of Margaret’s nephew, Colin Keegan. Colin died as a result of a road traffic accident, involving his motorbike and a car in Meath. Growing up Colin spent many summers in Boyle with Margaret and Des, and involved himself in the youthful activities of the neighbouring children in Forest View, and had only recently renewed contact with some of his childhood friends from Boyle. As a photo journalist, Colin was nationally renowned, and was described by the Press Photographers’ association as “a multi-award-winning press photographer who spent his career capturing the heart, soul and history of Ireland. He was fearless when the job demanded it. He was generous with his knowledge and time, a legend, an inspiration and a friend.” Colin will be remembered for many of the iconic photographs of the decade, if not of the century, such as the photograph of Bertie Ahern standing in flooded waters from the River Tolka up to his knees. Rest in peace, Colin.
