Boyle AC members were out in force again this weekend. Despite rough weather, the team in yellow and black didn’t let it slow them down. Spirits stayed high, and performances followed—personal bests and faster times across the board.
Noel McManus Memorial Run – 10K and Half Marathon on Good Friday - Aisling Rock, showing consistency in her current form, led the team home with an impressive time of 43:59—her second fastest over this distance—securing 2nd place in the Senior Female category. Linda Scanlon also continued her fine run of form, finishing in 44:05 and claiming 3rd place in her category. Next home was Philip James, who produced a brilliant performance to finish in 44:47, taking the podium in his age category. Una Gethins wasn’t to be phased by the testing hills and bad weather, securing a personal best of 47:13. Equally impressive was Trish Kane, running her best time in recent years, while Ashley Kelly also delivered a strong run.
Two Boyle AC athletes delivered standout performances over the half Marathon distance. Mark Reilly clocked a personal best of 1:47:37, and Sean Ballantyne smashed his previous best taking 9 minutes off to finish in 1:48:48. Both performances came on a course made all the more challenging by testing hills and poor weather conditions, particularly difficult over such a long distance of 21.1 km.
Roscommon Harrier 5K – Race 3 - Friday evening saw the third race in the Roscommon Harriers 5K series. Claire Flanagan, who has competed in all races so far, continued her impressive form by knocking 27 seconds off her time from the previous week. Fidelma Mullanny, taking part in her second race of the series, also showed great improvement—shaving 15 seconds off last week’s result. Caroline O’Grady ran a fantastic race and, despite the unfavourable conditions, smashed her previous time by 85 seconds to set a personal best over the distance.
Boyle AC had two representatives in Saturday’s annual Kilmovee 10K. Neil Conlon, building on his brilliant performance at the National 10K Championships in Dunboyne, delivered another great run, clocking 37:16 to finish 10th overall. Adrian Taheny also turned in a brilliant performance, crossing the line in 45:57— setting a personal best. Superb running from both athletes.
