There were quite a few visitors to the locality for the Easter holiday period, both from overseas and from various parts of Ireland. The church services for Holy Week and Easter, led by Fr Anthaiah Pudota and assisted by Fr Paddy Mooney, were spiritual and meaningful. Adding significantly to the ceremonies was the involvement of lay people and the excellent singing of the church choir.
The Annual General Meeting of Williamstown heritage Society will be held in the Templetogher heritage area on this Wednesday, April 23rd at 8 p.m.. In addition to regulars, new members will also be very welcome. As this year is the 25th anniversary of our founding, plans will be finalised for the completion of a number of important projects, among them the current stage of the upgrading of the Templetogher heritage area, the final stage in the restoration of the inner workings of Templetogher Mill, and the publication of the Michael McGovern biography. It’s good to note that the excellent facilities of Templetogher were again used to great effect on Easter Monday for another successful staging of the annual duck race, organised as ever by the Williamstown Community and GAA Festival Committee.

The first of the Pride of Place ventures for 2025, the parish pump project, is well underway at this stage. The plan is to restore and enhance all the pumps in the parish. The three selected for the initial work session were those at Beaugh, Leatra and Farm. Then on Saturday last, outstanding work was again carried out on two more of the parish pumps, those at Lisrivish and Polshask. Volunteers at both locations enhanced the pumps and their surrounds very significantly. This project is developing into a fascinating adventure, and the five pumps addressed so far are well on the way to becoming very attractive features. Other Pride of Place projects in the pipeline are - The further development of Kilnalag Community Garden, focusing on the rich history associated with this location, and the enhancement of the various townland signs dotted throughout the parish, several of which are always beautifully maintained.
