CHILDCARE INFORMATION SESSION

Roscommon County Childcare Committee will host an information clinic in Strokestown Library on Friday, April 4th from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.. A member of the team will be present to discuss the various childcare programmes available to parents and guardians in the locality. They will also be there to answer any childcare queries. TOWN TEAM MEETING 

The next monthly meeting of Strokestown Town Team CLG will take place on Thursday, April 3rd at 8 p.m., in the Community Centre. All are welcome to attend.

SCDA FORTNIGHTLY DRAW

POETRY FESTIVAL 

The Strokestown International Poetry Festival will take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 4th in memory of the late Merrily Harpur. The programme will commence on Friday, May 2nd with the opening reception and readings by Trish Bennett, Patrick Chapman, Noelle Lynskey, Katie Donovan, Mark Granier and Luke Morgan. The festival will feature international, national and local poets, musicians, publishers and Strokestown poetry prizewinners, recent award winners, the O'Shaughnessy and Katherine and Patrick Kavanagh Award winners, and bi-lingual and diverse writers.

CAREER AND EMPLOYMENT EXPO

BEREAVED 

Mr Pat Beirne, Cloonakilla, Strokestown, has been bereaved by the death of his sister, Miss Mary Beirne, Windmill Road, Elphin, which took place at Fearna Manor Nursing Home, Castlerea, recently. She was daughter of the late Mr Joe Beirne and of the late Mrs Bridie Beirne (nee Duffy). She was predeceased by her infant brother, James, and by her nephew, Christopher. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Elphin, and the interment followed in the adjoining Cemetery. She is survived by her brothers, Pat, John and Stephen; sister-in-law, Ruth; nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

LATE MRS CELIA WALSH 

The death took place recently at University Hospital, Galway, of Mrs Celia Walsh (nee Mannion), of Park, Rosscahill, County Galway, wife of Mr Martin Walsh. A native of Lavally, Strokestown, she was the last surviving member of the family of the late Mr Tom Mannion and of the late Mrs Celia Mannion (nee Connolly). She was predeceased by her sisters, Bridie (Lyttle), Mary, Hannah (Lyons) and Patricia, and her brothers, Tom, Michael and Paddy. Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Kilannin, and the interment followed in the adjoining Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, Martin's cousins, and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

KILGLASS GAELS 

 In the Kilglass Gaels Lotto held on March 29th, the numbers drawn were: 10, 14, 15, 22, Bonus Number 24. There was no jackpot winner: There was one Match 3 number winner of €200, Mary Washington. Next jackpot €4,700 for four correct numbers, €8700 for four correct numbers plus Bonus Number. Next draw takes place in clubrooms on Saturday, April 5th.

 LATE MRS BERNADETTE TAYLOR 

The death has occurred of Mrs Bernadette (Bernie)Taylor (nee Kiernan) Rooaun, Kilglass. Lovingly remembered by her family, her beloved husband, Paul; cherished children, Carl, Melanie, Alan, and Nathalie; adored grandchildren, Taylor, Daniel, Lorcan, Isabel, Nathan, Rachel, and Athaliah, sons-in-law, Chris and Minte; daughter-in-law, Sandra; brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in- law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Following Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, March 21st at the Sacred Heart Church Kilglass burial took place in Kilglass Cemetery.
