LATE SARAH DENCHFIELD

The death occurred peacefully on Sunday, January 19th at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by her loving family, of Sarah Denchfield (nee Kelly), Shillington, Bedfordshire, England, and formerly of St. Patrick Street, Castlerea. She was predeceased by her father Miko in March 2024. Deceased was a very kind and well like person who had many friends and was a member of a highly respected Castlerea family. Her late dad Miko and mother Maura ran The Sanford Arms Hotel on The Square, Castlerea, for many years. Symbols brought to the altar at her Funeral Mass included her rosary beads representing her strong faith, a rugby jersey representing her love for the game and Ireland, a wooley to represent her unconditional love for her mammy, the wooley was once her mother’s cardigan that Sarah took as her comfort blanket, a photo of Sarah and Justin’s wedding, representing their undying love for each other, a photo of her late father Miko. She is now united at peace with him in Heaven. In his homily, Fr. Chris Garrett said that Sarah lived a full life and did not let her illness define her. Her life was one of joy for family, her friends, her dogs, it was one of bringing joy to those around her. She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her husband. Justin; her beloved mother, Maura and her siblings Jimmy (Brussels), Paddy (Castlerea), Michael (London), Mark, Fidelma, Martin, Paul, Judith (Castlerea), Margaret (Annaduff), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, father-in-law, Simon, mother-in-law, Pamela, brothers-in-law Kevin Shaughnessy, Luke Flanagan, Mark Rowley and Noel Denchfield, sister-in-law, Sarah, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours and her large circle of friends especially her canine friend Charlie. Her remains were removed from McDonagh’s Funeral Home on Wednesday morning to St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea, and following Mass of the Resurrection celebrated by Fr. Chris Garrett, burial took place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Castlerea. Before the final blessing her sister Judith read the Communion reflection and Margaret gave a eulogy on Sarah’s life. The ceremony was enhanced by the singing of Fionnuala Maxwel, Annaduff. Castlerea Musical Society provided a guard of honour. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
