A Mum & Me fitness programme at Lisnamult Sport and Activity Hub brought together a group of mums with their little ones for fun, fitness, and connection.
A book featuring a chapter on the Roscommon Lamb Festival will be launched at Roscommon Library this week. Welsh author and a past wool craft tutor at the Lamb Festival in 2018 and 2019, Debbie Zawinksi is launching her second published book, ‘Stories in Stitches: A Memoir in Knitting’. Her newest book tells of her travels around Wales, Scotland, India and Ireland where she spun wool and knitted prominently. The book has a full chapter dedicated to her experiences at the Lamb Festival and includes some beautiful photography. Debbie is also known as ‘The Feral Spinner’ from her first book, ‘In the Footsteps of Sheep’, where she detailed her summer trekking in the Scottish highlands where she gleaned wool from hedges and fences, spun it and knitted socks. The author will be joined by US textile artist, Cathy Rhoades Fulton, who gave lace knitting classes at the 2018 festival, on Thursday, April 24th from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for the book launch at Roscommon Library. Roscommon SPCA recently held its annual church gate collection at the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon. The SPCA thanks all for the very generous donations received, which amounted to an €1,031.31. All money collected goes directly to Roscommon SPCA to help pay vet bills and expenses occurred in animal welfare work.

On Thursday, April 30th from 10.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. a heart health awareness event will be held at Roscommon Library. There will be blood pressure checks; a talk on heart failure signs and symptoms, dietary and exercise advice for a healthy heart This is a free event but booking is required. You can book by phoning the library. This event is in collaboration with Healthy Ireland at Your Library and Heart Failure Services in Roscommon Hospital and East Galway/Roscommon Integrated Care Hub.

Roscommon Community Tourist Office is looking for volunteers to help with providing information to tourists/visitors to the town. A good general knowledge of the county would be helpful, but training will be provided. Roscommon Garden Club will hold its last meeting on Monday, April 28th at 8 p.m. in Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon. Guest speak on the night will be Brendan Farrell who will give a talk on perennials and summer flowering.

Roscommon Sports Partnership was delighted to host a two day introduction to basketball camp over the Easter break. Across Monday and Tuesday, young participants aged 9–13 had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, supportive environment. The camp focused on teamwork, skill development, and, most importantly, enjoying sport. Roscommon Sports Partnership recently delivered a Learn to Cycle disability workshop with the students of Roscommon CBS. It was fantastic to see the confidence and new skills gained by everyone involved. This initiative is all about creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy the freedom of cycling, regardless of ability. A huge thank you to the staff and students of Roscommon CBS for their participation. This workshop was funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), supporting inclusive sport and physical activity across Roscommon.
Community Radio station RosFM (94.6FM) will hold a table quiz in Foxe’s Bar, Roscommon Town from 9 p.m. on Friday. April 25th. A table of four costs €40 and there will be lots of spot prizes on the night. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
A bus is being organised to the mini marathon taking place on Sunday, June 1st in memory of late Pam Farrell, who for countless years arranged this event. Massive congratulations to McDermott's Pub, Ballinaheglish who came back from 3-0 down to win 5-3 and become Roscommon county darts champions once again. This win now makes it five in a row and nine out of the last 10.
The wedding took place on Saturday April 12th in St. Patricks Church, Ballinaheglish between Miss Noeleen McCormack, daughter of Paddy and Ann McCormack and Mr Francis Egan, son of John and Mary Egan, Kilessian, County Laois. The bride was given away by her father. The ceremony was performed by Fr Frank Murray, assisted by Fr Victor Asmugana, PP Cloverhill. The matron of honour was Teresa Kiernan, sister of the bride and the bridesmaids were Aine McCormack and Linda Moore. Bestman was Niall Bergin and the groomsmen were Aaron McGuire and Fionn O'Shea. Flowergirls were Maise Kiernan and Holly Keogh. Pageboys were Eoin Kiernan and Harry Keogh. Music was by Stephanie Healy. The reception was held at the Lough Rynn Castle Hotel, Mohill. Wishing the couple many years of health and happiness.
