Well done to Assumpta and Patricia, Elphin's Daffodil Day volunteers who raised a fantastic €5,415. This included €620 raised from a raffle in Scott’s, Carrowreagh on March 16th organised by Carmel Beirne.

Rehearsals commenced last week for an upcoming show by the Community Arts and Drama Society in the Community Centre. The date has now been confirmed for the show, May 17th in Elphin Community Centre. It promises to be a great night with many groups in the community involved in the production.
Line dancing with Shannon takes place in An Bothar Rua every Wednesday at 8 p.m.. It’s great fun and everyone is welcome, it’s also a great workout. See you there soon.
Elphin Windmill - the oldest operational windmill in Ireland - was substantially damaged during storm Eowyn and needs major repairs. A historically and culturally significant site in the agricultural life of Ireland, Elphin Windmill needs your support in raising funds to get the repairs done and reopened for the public as soon as possible. The day centre will be having its Easter Mass and party with usual music raffle and refreshments on Wednesday, April 16th. Everyone welcome. Elphin Day Centre provides a wonderful local service. The Windmill Classic will take place on Sunday, June 8th from Elphin Community Centre. Hot food served afterwards. Updates and information on Facebook and Instagram pages. The 100k starts at 9 a.m. and the 50k starts at 9.30 a.m.. Proceeds this year will go to the Elphin Windmill repair fund following damage caused by Storm Eowyn.
The Elphin Mart canteen is Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving breakfasts and dinners.
Adult set dancing classes continue in An Bothar Rua on Tuesdays at 8.30 p.m.. Beginners welcome. Contact Michael Gunn for information on 086 3122897.
The regular Tuesday night music sessions start at 8.30 p.m. and everyone is welcome. The next junior music session is due to take place on Easter Sunday, April 20th at 7 p.m… All junior musicians will be made very welcome provided they are accompanied by a parent. The quality of the music at the junior sessions recently has been very good and deserves ongoing support so come along for an enjoyable evening. The next singers’ night in the Tower Inn will be on Easter Sunday at 9 p.m.. All singers will be made very welcome with all genre of singing being catered for. If you are a singer join in with a friendly gathering and if you are not a singer then come along for a great night of enjoyable entertainment.
Bingo is held in Elphin Community Centre every Monday at 8.30 p.m.. Thank you to everyone who supports the weekly bingo.

Shannon Gaels GAA Club will hold a special club night on Friday, April 11th in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, commencing at 8.30 p.m.. Guest speakers on the night including former Offaly hurler and Sunday Game commentator, Michael Duignan. All welcome to attend and hear of future plans for the club.

Shannon Gaels GAA Club will hold an Easter Camp from April 14th to 16th in Pairc na nGael (Bullfield), Boyle Road, Carrick-on-Shannon. Camp hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Activities include games, arts and crafts, GAA skills and plenty of fun. Tickets may be purchased from club app.

The death took place on Thursday, April 3rd, of Mr Percy Ffrench, Jamestown, Carrick-on-Shannon and formerly of Kilmore. He is survived by his wife, Lillie; son, Gerry; daughters, Jackie and Collette; grandchildren, brother, extended family, neighbours and friends. Percy was a member of the Shannon Gaels GAA team which won the Roscommon senior championship in 1964. Mass of Resurrection took place in Jamestown Church on Saturday, April 5th, followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Cavetown CE Scheme has vacancies for four general operatives. Duties will include the upkeep of all amenity areas, grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, litter and weed control, upkeep of flowerbeds and shrubs and landscaping. General maintenance will include repairs to fencing and stone walls, painting and decorating.
