A male cyclist in his 50s has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Tralee, Co Kerry, on Saturday morning.

The collision occurred in the early hours of this morning, November 15th, on the R551 at Caherslee, Tralee, Co Kerry.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision shortly after 1.30am.

The cyclist was brought to University Hospital Kerry, where he remains in a serious condition.

No other injuries were reported at the time.

The road is currently closed for technical examination, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, and were travelling in the Caherslee area of Tralee in the early hours of Saturday morning, have been asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.
