Family event to promote Irish

A puppet show called ‘Maggie’ with Little Gem Puppets will be held as part of the family event to facilitate a discussion on the promotion of the Irish language across County Roscommon.
An information session and family event to facilitate a discussion on the promotion of the Irish language across County Roscommon is taking place in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on Saturday, November 25th.
This will be an opportunity for people in the county who are involved with the Irish language, and people who are interested in the Irish language to come together. This event will be bilingual and you don’t need to be fluent in Irish to take part.
Local organisations will have an opportunity to share information on events that are currently promoting Irish in Roscommon. There will also be representatives from Irish language organisations on the day, sharing information about resources, funding and other supports that are available to community organisations, GAA clubs, Comhaltas branches, schools, individual families, etc to help promote the Irish language in the county.
In the afternoon there will be a puppet show called ‘Maggie’ with Little Gem Puppets. This show will be entirely in Irish and is a family event. Parents must stay with their children during the show.
This is an interactive show aimed at children aged 6-9 primarily but families with children of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy the show.
Sinéad Ní Mhearnóg , who works in the family department of Glór na nGael is hoping to develop an Irish Language Family Network for families in Roscommon who speak Irish in the home and the event will provide an opportunity for families to share ideas and give suggestions on the day.
All the events are free but registration is required. You can register or find out more information about the day by contacting: Sinéad Ní Mhearnóg 0834497443 sinead@glornangael.ie Honora Ní Mháille 0861655237 honoria@glornangael.ie
