The heartbroken girlfriend of a Co Donegal man who is fighting for his life after being attacked by five men has pleaded for prayers for him saying he has "a long road ahead."
Charles Dooher was beaten by five masked men armed with iron batons at his home on the Coneyburrow Road in the border town of Lifford on Monday January 20th.
Girlfriend Charlotte Gallen and his loving family have been at his bedside at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast ever since the horrific attack.
It is understood Charles, who is in his 20s, suffered brutal head injuries during the attack which happened at 10.30am in broad daylight.
Devastated Charlotte pleaded with the public for their prayers.
She said “Can everyone keep Charles Dooher in their thoughts and prayers as he’s still fighting the fight of his life, with a long road ahead.
“A best friend, a godfather and a role model to anyone who knew him.”
Charles' loving mother Ann-Marie also pleaded for similar prayers in another recent post on social media.
Victim Charles' dad, Charles Snr, was also beaten during the savage attack but his injuries were not as bad.
He was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital but was released two days later.
Charlotte previously posted on social media how only a year ago, the loving couple were enjoying a very different life in Australia.
She said “This time last year we were living in Australia sitting by the beach and today I sit by his bedside in intensive care praying for some sort of miracle to have the love of my life back with us in full health.
“Charlie has never failed to take my worries away and always fills me with a sense of peace and serenity with his kindness and big heart.
“If he could see me now, he would be telling me to take a deep breath and have hope.
“His presence brought safety and I wish I could have given him that same protection from some of the evil people in this world.”
Gardaí have appealed for any information on the attack to be forwarded to them.
