The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place this year commencing at 3.30 p.m. on March 17th. Following on from last year’s successful parade, the viewing stand will remain on the Crescent and there will be a DJ playing before and after the parade. The big success of the parade last year was the inclusion of Music Generation and all the local young people who played after the parade. Music will commence at the rear of An Rioga (former Royal Hotel) before the parade with face painting taking place there. After the parade Music Generation will run a concert at St Joseph's Hall where they have a number of different bands/ groups playing a variety of music from rock to traditional Irish music. The parade costs approximately €6,000 to run and all support would be greatly appreciated via a go fund me page https://gofund.me/fc7e16c1 Volunteers are needed if you wish to participate and help please email boyleparade@gmail.com or contact 0876521271.

The annual Tony McGowan Run took place in Drumshanbo last weekend with over 1,500 participants over the 5k, 10k and half marathon distances. Boyle AC was, as always well represented, with 34 members taking part over the three distances.
The 10k race saw most of the club athletes take part and with great success. Neil Conlon was first home in the Boyle colours. Following Neil closely was Helen Beirne who ran a superb time of 42:45 setting a new personal best and a club record by 18 seconds. This was Helen's third consecutive PB over the 10K distance. There were also personal best times achieved by Sean Ballantyne and Aileen Farrell. Impressive performances by Adrian Taheny, Philip James, Sheila Cunningham, Claire Flanagan, Cian Duffy, Siobhan Keaney, Carmel Goldrick, Sinead McQuaid, Tom O’Connor, Caroline O’Grady, Sinead Spellman, Helena Casey and Sinead McCafferty. Congratulations to Nicole Harney who ran her first 10k in an impressive time of 61:55. Nicole only joined the club recently and did the C25K in October.
Well done Andy Mullen, Terry Reilly, Fidelma Mullaney, Trish Kane,Nance Hayden, Isabelle Roche, and Ruth Harbison who ran a brilliant personal best over the half marathon distance.
Club members also took on official pace-making roles for the race organisers. Club coach Adrian Gurn paced the 1hr:40min group. Noel Scally and David Greene paced the 1:50 group. Pacing duties were carried out with precision getting runners home under their target times. Well done lads.
In the 5k there were impressive performances from Conor Hamill, Breege Donoghue, Therese Killoran, Ciara Dooley, Ruth McManus Taheny and Sean Donoghue.
A special mention to club coach Adrian Gurn from Running & Physical Therapy Clinic for looking after the athletes during the weekly coaching sessions that are yielding great results.
