Elphin Hall was bursting with energy as The Devil’s in the Dancehall brought the music, mischief and magic of Ireland’s 1930s dance halls back to life. The Roscommon Herald reported in 1936 that young people in Roscommon were becoming so addicted to dancing that they were unable to turn out for work on Mondays, and sometimes even Tuesdays! And after the scenes in Elphin on Sunday night week, it is suspected there might be a few in the same case With the Gralton Big Band providing the swing, and dancers taking to the floor, the atmosphere was electric. In fact, there was so much energy coming out of Elphin Hall, it could have powered the whole of County Roscommon! The event was produced and curated by Edwina Guckian and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Roscommon arts office.

Huge congratulations to Stephen Kielty, who received a prestigious Naughton Foundation Scholarship last weekend.
