Local Notes: Easter parade, county fleadh and Roscommon Harriers 5km series

The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day will be on the streets on Friday, March 20th. As in previous years, the local voluntary organisers of Daffodil Day in Roscommon Town are appealing to the public to donate fresh daffodils. Volunteers will be available to receive daffodils at the Daffodil Day depot in the Central Bar, Main Street on Thursday, March 19th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Volunteers and students will be on the streets and at local supermarkets/shops selling fresh daffodils, silk daffodils, Daffodil Day pins and other Daffodil Day items in support of this annual fundraiser.
The launch of the Roscommon Town Easter Parade takes place in Down The Hatch Bar, Roscommon at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19th. All are welcome to come along to the launch.
CCÉ Bhaile Ros Comáin will launch the County Fleadh in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon Town on Sunday, March 22nd at 5 p.m.. The evening will include: a performance by Music Generation, the official opening by Liam Callaghan, a presentation of Gradam Awards, songs by family and friends of the late Pauline Hanly, a junior session and a senior session. Everyone is very welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

The next Roscommon Parish Youth Mass will be at 7 p.m. on this Saturday, March 21st in the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon. This Mass has been especially designed for young people, by young people, and everyone is invited to attend. The theme for the Mass is ‘Understanding’.
The AGM of Castlecoote Community Centre will be held on Sunday, April 19th at 7 p.m.. All welcome. Pilates with Bonnie in the centre every Tuesday from 7.30 p.m.-8:15 p.m.. Line dancing with Christopher Beirne in the centre on Friday, 6.30-8 p.m..

Roscommon Harriers have launched their 5km Series for 2026. Again, this year it will be a four race series, held on consecutive Fridays starting on Friday, April 3rd (race starts 7.30 p.m. pick up numbers from 6.30 p.m.) and continues on April 10th, 17th, 24th. Entry can be for full race series (€30 + fees in total), and the race number you get for race 1 will be for the runner to keep and wear in race 2,3 & 4 or on an individual race basis €10 per race. Race headquarters and number pick up at Hannon’s Hotel.

Join Coman’s Swimming Club for a family fun afternoon of Easter Bingo at the Hyde Centre, Roscommon on Friday, April 3rd at 5 p.m.. As this is a child and family friendly event all bingo prizes are fun and not in cash.

County Roscommon Disability Support Group is holding a table quiz in Foxe’s Bar, Roscommon Town on Friday, March 20th at 9 p.m.. All proceeds go towards the running costs for accessible transport. There are great prizes to be won with a raffle on the night.
