ELPHIN CCE CLASSES 

A little reminder that our Elphin CCÉ Music Class & Membership Registration Event for 2026/2027 will take place next month. Whether you're returning for another year or thinking about joining us for the first time, we’d love to welcome you to Elphin CCÉ. Our 2026/27 programme includes classes in tin whistle, fiddle, concertina, flute, singing and dancing, with options for beginners, intermediate and more advanced learners.Full registration and class details coming soon.

ELPHIN GAA

TOWER BAR SESSIONS 

Junior and Senior music sessions: the Tuesday traditional music sessions in the Tower Inn will be proceeded by a Junior music session starting at 7.30pm for the duration of the school holiday and all Junior musicians will be made very welcome provided they are accompanied by a parent. Our Tuesday sessions are really very enjoyable with new people joining and we were delighted to welcome two musicians from Offaly last Tuesday night.

TOWER SINGERS SESSION 

Thank you to everyone who joined our monthly singers session last Sunday. All singers are welcome to attend as all Genre of singing is catered for and for non singers the night always provides a very good nights enjoyable entertainment so come along and bring a friend. Watch this space for date of next session.

ELPHIN TIDY TOWNS 

We meet at Day Centre polytunnel every Saturday morning at 10.30 a.m. All welcome. Thanks also to everyone who sponsors the work of the group. We would love to have some new volunteers. If you are new to Elphin it is a great way to meet people. Volunteers can do as much or as little as they like. We do an hour on Saturday but also during the summer we are out and about during the week.

BINGO 

Bingo every Monday starts at 8 p.m. in Elphin Community Centre. Thank you for your continued support.

AA MEETINGS 

AA meetings are held on Mondays at 8pm in Elphin Community Centre F45 K336. Access at rear of building.

AGRICULTURAL SHOW

Despite the lack of sunshine earlier in the day it was a superb day at Elphin Agricultural Show in Elphin Mart. The cattle on show were spectacular. They were all out in force and many more. Head over to the Show website for results. Turf, cakes, ducks. Coffee van, chip vans, burger vans, no one went hungry. Plenty of activities for the kids. It was a day for meeting people, neighbours, old friends, new friends, a great community event. Well done to all the committee and well done for delivering a great day.

INFORMATION EVENT 

Leitrim College of Further Education and Training will host an information event on Wednesday, September 2nd from 3 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon. Explore a wide range of courses, meet experienced staff and discover the opportunities available. Refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome.

VISITS TO THE HOUSEBOUND 

Fr. Alan P.P. will visit the sick and housebound in the parish on Thursday and Friday, September 10th and 11th, at the usual times.

ACTIVE AGE FITNESS CLASSES 

Active Age Fitness Classes take place in Croghan Community Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11.30 a.m.. For bookings please call/text Siofra at 086-1929282. (Croghan Café open Thursday for coffee and chat).

VACANCIES ON CAVETOWN CE SCHEME 

Cavetown Residents CE Scheme has vacancies for Environmental Workers in several locations under the Croghan based scheme, including an Administrative Assistant preferably with agricultural experience, and for a Café Worker preferably with experience but all necessary training will be provided. SHANNON GAELS 50/50 DRAW Recent winner of the Shannon Gaels G.A.A. club's 50/50 draw was Cara Tobin who won €1,650. All support for the draw is much appreciated. Tickets may be purchased on ClubSpot or at local businesses.

FRESH ORGANIC VEGETABLES 

Croghan Organic Garden Pop-Up Shop opens every Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beside the Old Creamery Café. Fresh produce grown locally at the organic community gardens.

MASS IN ARDCARNE GRAVEYARD 

Mass will be celebrated in Ardcarne graveyard on Sunday, September 6th at 12 noon. There will be a collection at the gate towards the cost of lighting Ardcarne Church and graveyard.

BINGO IN PATRICIAN HALL 

Bingo takes place in the Patrician Hall, Cortober on Sunday night at 8 p.m.. Big cash prizes to be won. All welcome.

JUBILEE OF MARRIAGES 

Couples celebrating their Silver, Ruby, Golden, Diamond, Platinum or other wedding anniversaries are invited to attend one of two jubilee Masses, along with their families and friends, on either Sunday, October 4th at 2.30 p.m. in Ballaghaderreen Cathedral or Sunday, October 11th at 2.30 p.m. in Kiltoom Church. Bishop Kevin will celebrate both Masses. Light refreshments will be served afterwards for all in attendance. As each couple celebrating an anniversary will receive a certificate from Bishop Kevin, they are asked to register their details at www.achonryelphin.ie.
