Social Inclusion Week 2026 is coming, September 21st – 27th. Community groups can now apply for grants of up to €750 to host events and deliver projects. Apply via MyOnlineServices before July 15th (5 p.m.).
A men's exercise programme at Lisnamult Sport & Activity Hub is now into Week 2, with participants taking on a circuit-based session using resistance exercises and weights. Resistance training is one of the most important forms of exercise as people get older. It is fantastic to see the group challenging themselves each week while enjoying the social side of exercising together.
Would you like to play a part in preserving Roscommon’s stories for future generations? Training is practical and volunteer-focused, combining oral heritage best practice with hands-on audio recording, interviewing, consent, file management, and archiving guidance. The programme will be delivered by GK Media Studios across three in-person workshops (3-3.5hrs each) which will take place between July and October 2026. Volunteer training for 2026 starts on Saturday, July 18th, 10 a.m. – 1.30 p.m. in Roscommon Library. Training is free but registration is required, by email heritage@roscommoncoco.ie or phone 090 6632513.

A gentle and welcoming shared reading group takes place at Roscommon Library, open to people living with dementia and their carers. Come along to relax, enjoy listening to stories of local history or any topic, and share a cup of tea in a friendly, supportive setting. Drop-in digital skills sessions for adults until the end of July, Tuesdays 1-3 p.m. at Roscommon Library. Come to the library where you can get help and advice from a tutor from Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) Bring your own device (phone, tablet, laptop).

The marriage took place on Saturday, June 27th at St. John’s Church, Lecarrow between Louise Finneran, daughter of Patricia Finneran and the late Michael Finneran, Glanduff, Kiltoom in the parish of St. John’s and Joseph Henry, son of Martina and Joe Henry, Castlerea. The bride was given away by her mother, Patricia. The ceremony with Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Rev Fr. Ray Milton PP. The maid of honor was Laura Finneran, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Orla McCann and Melissa Flynn, both friends of the bride. The best man was Michael Henry, brother of groom. The groomsmen were Thomas Callaghan and Gavin Callaghan, both friends of the groom. The readings were read by Atila Abono, friend of the bride and Yvonne Waldron, aunt of the groom. Gifts were brought to the altar by both mothers, Patricia and Martina. The reflections were read by Aoife Munroe, friend of the bride. Music and hymns were provided by Aileen O’Connor, Jordan O’Connor and Kate Heneghan. The reception was held at Kilronan Castle, Ballyfarnon. Louise and Joseph are wished a long and happy married life.
Cemetery Mass will be celebrated in Gailey Cemetery on this Saturday at 7p.m..
