"Get Lost in a Good Book" on Ireland Reads Day on Saturday, February 22nd. On that date Strokestown Library is hosting a public information day. Call in to chat with library staff, get reading recommendations for all ages and find out what else is on offer in your local library. Public library membership is free of charge and joining is easy. The death took place recently at Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe, of Mrs Christine Greenhough of Kilnalosset, Curraghroe, wife of Mr Les Greehough. News of her passing was heard of with deep regret among her relatives, neighbours and friends. A private cremation has taken place. She is survived by her husband and extended family to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
Mrs Ita Mullooly, Kiltrustan, Strokestown, has been bereaved by the death of her brother, Mr Eamon Rogan, Tooman, Mohill, which took place at his home recently. He was predeceased by his son, Damien. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael's Church, Bornacoola, and the interment followed in Gortletteragh Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Adrian; daughters, Maria and Edel; grandchildren, Maddison, Christian, Adam, Noah and Myah; sons-in-law, Shane and Barry; brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

The death took place recently of Mr Laurence Henson of Church Street, Strokestown. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, he had resided in town for a number of years, over which time he developed many friendships. He worked in the film industry for many years. He also enjoyed reading and writing poetry and was an enthusiastic supporter of Strokestown's annual International Poetry Festival. He was also a familiar figure at poetry readings all over the county and in adjoining counties. He previously resided at Bray, Co. Wicklow. News of his passing was heard of with deep sorrow among his relatives, many friends, colleagues in the film industry and fellow poets. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, by Fr Vincent Atueyi (Strokestowb). Interment followed in Strokestown Cemetery. He is survived by his partner, Ruth Jacob; sons, Stephen (Glasgow) and Peter (Swansea); daughters-in-law, Audrey and Kath; grandchildren, Nicky, David and Hannah; great-grandchildren, nephews and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
In the Kilglass Gaels Lotto held on February 15th the numbers drawn were: 15, 17, 19, 22, Bonus Number, 13. There was no jackpot winner: There were no Match 3 number winners. The five Lucky Dip winners of €40 each were Erin Glennon, Ellen Burke, Lorna Magan, Tiarnan Cox, Gerard Bohan. Next week's jackpot €4,100 for four correct numbers, €8,100 for four correct numbers plus Bonus Number. Next draw takes place in clubrooms on Saturday February 22nd.
This week's Kilglass Gaels Ladies Bonus Ball number was 35. There were two winners of €50 each.

Sympathy is extended to Sean Donoghue, Slatta on the death of his uncle, Tony Kerrigan, formerly of Slattamore who passed away recently in the USA. May he rest in peace.
Roscommon SPCA will be holding its annual church gate collections at St. Brigid's Church, Kilmore on Saturday, February 22nd; at St. Anne's Church, Slatta on Saturday, February 22nd; at the Church of The Sacred Heart, Kilglass on Sunday, February 23rd and the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Roosky on Sunday, February 23rd. These collections are a great opportunity for Roscommon SPCA to raise much needed funds for animal welfare work and also to raise awareness of the mission and vision.
