Plans are now well advanced for the staging of the Samaritans Maytime Concert at St Brigid's Sport and Social Centre, Newpark, Kiltoom, on this Saturday, May 3rd, at 8 p.m.. Three contrasting choirs will feature in the concert, namely the St Brigid's (Kiltoom and Cam) Community Choir, the Roscommon Men's Choir and the Ballybay National School Choir. This gathering of performers will provide a varied and entertaining evening in support of the Athlone and Midlands Samaritans. The compere on the night will be Siobhan Gavin. The St Brigid's Community Choir are singers with a community ethos. They come from the wider Kiltoom and Cam and Athlone area. The choir was established in 2013 and currently has a total male and female membership of 45. Since its formation the choir has raised significant funding for various charities in the surrounding areas and, on this occasion, it is privileged to do likewise for the very worthwhile Samaritans. The Athlone and Midlands Samaritans is a completely voluntary organisation dedicated to providing a listening, non-judgemental support to anyone who is lonely, anxious or despairing and, most of all, anyone who is contemplating suicide. The Samaritans are available on Freefone 116123, 24 hours a day. Tickets for the concert are available from Mulligan's, Londis, on the Roscommon Road, Athlone.
