Roscommon SPCA recently held its annual fundraising street collection in Roscommon Town, which raised €833.58. Sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone for the very generous donations received. Every penny collected goes directly to animal welfare. The charity is run entirely by volunteers and the kindness, generosity and support helps them to continue in the work to rescue, care for and protect animals in the county.
N61 roadworks are underway at Ballymurray and will last for a number of weeks 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Stop/Go traffic lights in place.

Roscommon Athletics has returned to its training schedule. There are additional sessions in Mote Park on Sundays and event specific training in TUS on Thursdays. The club is receiving a high number of enquiries about waiting lists at the moment - these have been reviewed and any available spots have been allocated.
The South Roscommon Family Resource Centre is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run a friendly chess club. Whether you’re an experienced player or simply passionate about the game, your time and encouragement can make a real difference. As a volunteer, you will help children learn and improve their chess skills, encourage strategic thinking, confidence, teamwork and be part of a welcoming and supportive community. No teaching qualification is required—just patience, enthusiasm, and a love of chess.

A Women in Leadership course starts September 8th and runs on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Roscommon Town FRC House. This will be a supportive space where women can build their confidence to take on positions of power and decision-making in their homes, workplaces, and local communities. Spaces are limited. ‘Seeking Safety; is a free coping skills programme for women affected by trauma, mental health and/or addiction. Learn new ways to cope safely with your own triggers, impulses and symptoms and gain a more compassionate understanding of yourself and "take back your power from the impacts of trauma, mental health and/or addiction. The programme is funded by the HSE and is being delivered in Roscommon Town with a new group starting in Castlerea. Roscommon Gaels bingo at the Hyde Centre each Sunday at 8 p.m.
Bingo is back every Friday at 8.30 p.m. in Ballinaheglish Community Centre. The committee thanks Roscommon County Council for funding under the Local Enhancement Programme 2026, which has been used to purchase new chairs for the centre.
