KILCROAN CEMETERY 

The Kilcroan Cemetery Committee would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended for the April and May clean up in the cemetery. The hard work is greatly appreciated and great to see the cemetery looking so well. The committee would kindly ask that anyone cleaning graves take away the wreaths or old flowers from the cemetery. Please do not leave anything around the walls. Next clean up is on Sunday, June 14th.

GLINSK/CREGGS 

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION EVENING 

A volunteer appreciation evening will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 7 p.m. in Dowd’s Glencastle Lounge, Glinsk. All groups and volunteers are invited to attend as a thank you for making a difference in the community. The event is being hosted by Dowd’s and Glinsk Community Childcare.

LATE MRS BINA HARRIS 

 The death took place on April 30th at Sonas Nursing Home, Cloverhill of Mrs Bina (Sabina) Harris, (nee Keane) Corlackin, Creggs. Of a friendly and sociable disposition, she was devoted to her immediate and extended family and she was deservedly popular with her neighbours and friends. She was an active member of the community and supported a wide range of charitable causes. She was predeceased by her husband, Barrie, daughter, Maria, grandson, Barrie, sister, Mae and brothers, Jack and Michael and is survived by her son, Sean; daughter, Olivia; daughter-in-law, Jackie; sons-in-law, Mickie Maloney and Richard Smyth; grandchildren, Eve, Stephen and Kieran; nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Following Mass of the Resurrection at St.Mary's Church, Kilbegnet burial took place in Kilbegnet Cemetery.

LATE MR TOMMY BARLOW 

The death took place recently of Mr Tommy Barlow, Garrai Glas Park, Athenry and formerly of Cloonfaughna, Glinsk. Predeceased by his parents, John Joe and Mary he will be greatly missed by his sister, Bridie Donnelly; brother, Jimmy; brother-in-law, Liam; sister-in- law, Marie; cousin, Sr. Maura Kelly, Olney, UK; nieces, nephews and many friends. Following Mass of the Resurrection at St. Michael's Church, Glinsk burial took place in Ballinakill Cemetery.

BEREAVED 

Mrs Mary Gavin, Friaryland, Creggs was recently bereaved by the death of her brother P J Dooley, St.Joseph's Place, Ballinasloe and formerly of Lunnerton, Ballinamore Bridge. P J worked for many years as a psychiatric nurse in St.Brigid's Hospital, Ballinasloe and was deservedly popular with both patients and staff. He was a talented footballer in his youth and won an All-Ireland medal with Galway Vocational School's team in 1965. Predeceased by his wife Teresa and grandson Davie he will be sadly missed by his wife, Marie; children, Aisling, Colette, Patricia, Brendan, David and Mark; sisters, Margaret and Mary; grandchildren, great grandchildren relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass and burial took place in Ballinasloe.

GLINSK GAA 

Glinsk GAA Club recently launched a new Glinsk GAA 50/50 draw. This is replacing the Glinsk GAA Club Lotto. The draw was launched in the Glencastle Lounge on April 18th and the inaugural jackpot winner was Diane Conway, Gortnadieve, Glinsk.

WILLIAMSTOWN 

 FÁILTE GO BAILE LIAM 

 The multi-purpose sign, located in a prominent position on the green area on Williamstown Square, is proving to be both practical and attractive in a number of ways. Having carried appropriate messages linked to various seasonal and festive occasions up to now, it currently projects the warm, welcoming greeting FÁILTE GO BAILE LIAM Well done to all involved with this attractive feature.

HANDBALL NEWS 

On Sunday Williamstown hosted the Connaught A 60x30 championship for the U-11 and U-12 boys and girls. Congratulations to the following club members who took home the Connaught titles - Grace Connaughton - winner U-12 singles; Caitlin Smyth & Grace Connaughton - winners U-12 doubles. Congratulations also to Cian Smyth, Aoibhe and Caitlin Pedraza who came runners up and who take home the silver medals.

HERITAGE SOCIETY 

The next meeting of Williamstown Heritage Society will be held on this Tuesday, May 19th at 8 p.m. in Templetogher. As the busy season approaches, the group will be making plans for both ongoing and upcoming projects, including the online StoryMap of the locality, which is a joint project with Williamstown Tidy Towns. The group extends sympathy to Alex and the Geraghty family, Williamstown on the death of Alex’s mother, Mary Smyth, Roscommon; also to Fr. John D. Flannery, Milltown (who served in the parish in the past) and the Flannery family on the death of Fr. John’s brother, Fr. Seamus Flannery.

FESTIVAL PROGRAMME 

Williamstown Festival Committee has just announced the programme for this year’s event, which is being held from Thursday, June 25th to Sunday, June 28th, a little earlier than in previous years. As ever, the hardworking members of the committee have drawn up an excellent programme, packed with a variety of interesting and exciting events, to suit all ages and tastes.

No doubt, the event will be as enjoyable and well supported as ever, and the added excitement and atmosphere, which it always brings to the community is to be greatly welcomed.

GLENAMADDY PLAYERS GALA DINNER 

Glenamaddy Players will host a gala dinner on Saturday, May 23rd at 7 p.m. in the Oakland, Glenamaddy followed by music, dancing and celebrations galore to celebrate the group winning the All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals in Carrickmore, County Tyrone and the group’s success over the last 54 years. ROSARY MONTH OF MAY 

The Rosary is recited daily at 3 p.m in St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre, Kilkerrin except Fridays due to Adoration. Rosary recited in Clonberne Church Sundays at 7 pm. Anyone is welcome to come along and recite the rosary. Volunteers needed. Broadcast on Local Radio 106.6 FM.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 

Congratulations to the children from St Oliver Plunkett NS Kilkerrin who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 10th.

Congratulations to the children from St Mary’s Central NS, Clonberne who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 17th.

CONFIRMATION 

Congratulations to the 55 pupils from St Mary’ NS, Clonberne and St Oliver Plunkett NS, Kilkerrin on being confirmed by Archbishop Francis Duffy on Thursday, May 7th. It was a lovely occasion and sincere thanks to the schools and all those from the wider faith community in the parish who. made it a memorable day.

NORTH GALWAY VINTAGE 

North Galway Vintage & Heritage Club holds its Mega Autojumble & Sale on Sunday, May 24th in Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre.

KILKERRIN COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP 

Kilkerrin Community Clean-up will be held on Sunday, May 24th. Bags, gloves etc available from Kilkerrin Community Centre from 11.30 a.m. -12.15 p.m. on the day. All rubbish gathered to be brought to the Community Centre for collection. All parishioners are asked to please help out in the cleanup of the station areas. Additional help and volunteers are also required on the day to clean up the village to get it ready for the upcoming Tidy Towns competition.
