15 people before Roscommon courts for burglary offences
The crime of burglary causes fear in communities.
Fifteen people appeared before local courts in Roscommon for burglary offences in the first nine months of 2025, latest figures from the Irish Courts Service reveal.
Eleven of them appeared before Roscommon District Court while four were before Roscommon Circuit Court over this period.
Local courts in Carrick-on-Shannon had one of the lowest number of people before the courts for burglary offences. One person came before the district court and one before the circuit court during this nine-month period.
A total of 1,187 people nationwide were before the district courts across Ireland for burglary offences in the first nine months of 2025. A further 347 people were sent forward for trial in the circuit court for burglary offences between January and September 2025.
Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, who was provided the figures by the Irish Courts Service, has called for further extensive measures to be introduced to the country to tackle burglary.
Such measures include more targeted community supports to protect communities against burglary including a doubling of funding under the Community Safety fund.
The Community Safety Fund allows for the proceeds of crime, seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and An Garda Síochána, to be directed back into communities.
The €4 million funding works within communities to provide funding for measures like diversion programmes for repeat and young offenders.
