Aldi hopes to create up to 30 permanent new jobs as part of its plans for a new store in Boyle.
As part of its planning application lodged with Roscommon County Council, Aldi Stores (Ireland) Limited outlined there would be up to 30 permanent positions including two managers recruited from the local area to run the business.
The German discount chain is proposing to build a medium sized single storey supermarket involving reconfigured site access from Patrick Street in the town to brownfield lands to the rear.
The proposed scheme to be developed is on the former Candon’s site and lands to the rear of Patrick Street, comprising just over two acres.
The planned store is 1,315 square metres in size and there are plans for 96 car parking spaces, 10 cycle parking spaces and a bicycle shelter.
The supermarket plan is part of a mixed-use development involving a residential element. This involves the refurbishment of vacant buildings along Patrick Street in the town, serving to provide five houses comprising three one-beds and two two-beds.
Roscommon County Council is due to make a decision on the development by April 22nd next.
