The rising stars of Irish athletics were celebrated at the 2025 Juvenile All-Star Awards, held at the Mullingar Park Hotel on April 18th.
County Roscommon athlete Emily Clyne was awarded the honour for her county. The awards recognised the exceptional achievements of juvenile athletes throughout the 2025 season, underlining the remarkable depth and quality of emerging talent in Irish athletics across track, field, and cross country disciplines.
Emily is a member of Reeside Athletic Club. She has been involved in athletics since she was seven years old, trying multiple events such as hurdles, sprints, and long jump. However, it is her recent focus on the high jump that has brought her such great success. She is coached by her mum Laura and high jump specialist Mike Tobin from Craughwell AC. Her ambition for 2026 is to continue recording PBs and to one day wear an Irish vest and represent her country.
2025 was a stand out year for Emily. She won three national medals: a bronze in the All-Ireland Schools High Jump, a bronze in the U16s High Jump in the AAI National Outdoor Championships, and a gold medal in the National Finals of the Community Games.
During the award ceremony, President of Athletics Ireland, Bríd Golden, praised the young athletes for their dedication and success.
“It’s been a terrific year for our association, and in particular for our juvenile athletes. It makes me proud to see so many of our young athletes competing and succeeding at home and on the international stage,” she said.
Two-time European Indoor Champion David Gillick was in attendance and congratulated all of the winners, while encouraging them to stay involved in the sport that has given him so much.
Individual Juvenile Star Awards were presented to athletes representing every county, reflecting the nationwide strength and diversity of talent within Irish athletics.
