Aldi store for Boyle gets green light
The council decided on the planning application today.
Roscommon County Council has granted planning permission for a new Aldi Store in Boyle.
The supermarket plan is part of a mixed-use development which includes the demolition of derelict buildings and structures and the proposed refurbishment of five houses along Patrick Street.
Aldi hopes to create up to 30 permanent new jobs as part of its plans for the new store.
Welcoming the news, Cathaoirleach of Boyle MD Cllr Sean Moylan stated, “I was delighted to hear that Aldi has received planning permission for the new shop in Boyle. This will add a new dynamic to Boyle and to Patrick Street. There are already fine shops and supermarkets in the town, and this development will further extend the overall offering of Boyle.
“The town looks really well at present, and I hope this will attract new shoppers from across the North West. We have beautiful coffee shops, tourist attractions, free parking, and a pleasant, safe atmosphere in Boyle, and this development will help bring in new people who might otherwise travel to larger towns. This in turn will surely benefit all shops and businesses in the town," he said.
The plans include the provision for 96 car parking spaces, 10 cycle parking spaces and a bicycle shelter.
The development was granted subject to a number of conditions.
