There is anger locally over dumping at a recycling bank.
A large number of bags were left beside a clothes recycling bin in Strokestown with locals calling out those that dumped the bags and condemning the action.
In a social media post Strokestown Tidy Towns stated, “Yet another example of abuse by someone.
“We are hoarse from asking for more to be done by Roscommon County Council (and this will again be reported to support our business case for action to be taken).
“This is a busy footfall area - how is this person(s) allowed to freely dump their waste in full sight without being asked to explain their reasons?
“Cameras may help. Fines may help - they would certainly be welcomed.
“However, they won’t change someone’s behaviours if those responsible aren’t challenged on site when seen to be doing this dumping.”
