Body of woman (70s) recovered from river in County Roscommon town

The coroner and the office of the state pathologist have been notified.
The body of a woman has been recovered from a river in the Demesne area of Castlerea.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly after 3.30 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, following reports that the woman had entered the water.
Gardaí said that she is aged in her seventies and the scene has been preserved.
Her body was later recovered and taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway.
A Garda spokesperson outlined that the coroner and the office of the state pathologist have been notified.
A post-mortem examination has been arranged and the results will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
