Families, businesses and all customers on the Killeglan Public Water Supply Scheme in South Roscommon can once again enjoy safe drinking water straight from the tap following the lifting of the Boil Water Notice which was in place on the supply.

The team in Uisce Éireann, following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), can confirm that the water is now safe to drink, prepare food with, and use as normal.

The notice has been lifted following the completion of works and a series of satisfactory water quality tests. It issued on Sunday, October 11th due to mechanical issues at Killeglan Water Treatment Plant.

Uisce Éireann said it understood the disruption and inconvenience the notice has caused for customers and would like to thank everyone in the community for their patience, cooperation and support while the necessary work was carried out.

Ger Greally, Water Treatment Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “This is welcome news for the community. We understand how disruptive a Boil Water Notice can be and I'd like to thank customers for the patience, cooperation and kindness they showed to our teams while this notice was in place.

“Our drinking water experts have worked hard to resolve the issue, and we are delighted that customers can now return to using their water supply as normal.”

The Uisce Éireann Customer Contact Centre, available 24/7 on freephone 1800 278 278, can answer queries regarding the lifting of these notices.
