AIB Connacht LGFA Senior Championship Quarter-Final

Boyle’s red-letter season continues to get better as Kieran McKeon’s side defeated Sligo champions, Eoghan Rua, in wet and windy conditions in their rearranged provincial quarter-final at Abbey Park on Monday afternoon.

A six-point victory was thoroughly deserved in the tough conditions as Boyle, who were against the elements in the opening half, created a platform for victory.

The excellent Megan McKeon opened the scoring, and after Aisling Feely served notice of the threat she posed by hammering a 15-metre shot against the Eoghan Rua crossbar, her next attempt from a very similar position flew a foot lower and rippled the net.

The sides were level at the break, 1-4 apiece, and while it took Boyle some time to press home their advantage, a run of 1-5 without reply — with the goal coming from Katie Conroy — was more than enough to allow Boyle to concede a goal and a point to late Leah Duffy frees and still prevail comfortably.

Boyle will host Knockmore from Mayo in next Sunday’s semi-final, with the game scheduled for Abbey Park at 1 p.m..
