Brothers of Charity to develop new Roscommon service
The Brothers of Charity are applying for planning permission from Roscommon County Council.
Planning permission is being sought by the Brothers of Charity to develop the organisation’s premises in Castlerea.
Simon Beale and Associates, are applying to Roscommon County Council, on behalf of Brothers of Charity Services Ireland for full planning permission to change the use of the existing Hanly Hall building from former school/place of assembly to day services/social or micro enterprise/office use and also a full renovation and extension of the existing structure to comprise of a total floor area of 715.5m2.
The organisation is also seeking permission to construction a new two storey detached community residential dwelling and to create a new site entrance, internal access road and carparking, together with connection to public services and all associated site works at Hanly Hall, Patrick’s St., Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.
The Brothers of Charity Services is an international, voluntary religious organisation who opened their first services in Ireland in 1883 to provide for mental health needs.
In 1938 they started to develop services for people with an intellectual disability and their families. These services grew steadily over the years, so that today the Congregation is the largest provider of services for people with an intellectual disability in Ireland.
