CBS Roscommon holds remembrance mass

The art work completed by students for the Mass of Remembrance.
On Tuesday, November 28th the CBS held its November Mass for the Holy Souls celebrated by Fr. Joe Fitzgerald and Deacon Willie Gacquin.
All gathered to honour the lives of those who passed away this year. Many members of staff and indeed the student body have lost loved ones. As a school community all remembered past pupil Ian Conlon and former members of staff whom we have lost this year, Br. Morgan Donnelly who served as principal of the school from 1979-1982, John Clogher who taught in the school from 1970-2003; Pat Rogers 1971-2001 and John Duane from 1977-1993.
Thanks to Fr. Joe and Deacon Gacquin for celebrating the mass, the religion department for their organisation as well as the school choir and all of the students who participated in the various parts of the mass.
Well done to the U-14 rugby squad who had a good win over Coláiste Iognáid “The Jes” in Galway. Tries from Ryan lynch, Darragh Connaughton, Ciaran Cunnane, Callum Ward, and Cathal Nerney.

The Transition Year students enjoyed a trip to the Pure Skills Indoor Sports Complex in Knocknacarra, Galway last week. Pure Skill gives students the opportunity to get involved in many different sports such as soccer, baseball, hurling, basketball, Gaelic and kickboxing. The students had a fantastic time sampling all the activities on offer. They also took a refreshing trip down the promenade in Salthill on their way home.
Congratulations to the First Year students of the month for October - Aaron Forde, David Ignea, and Martin Bikoi. They have really contributed to school life both academically and in extra-curricular activities. Well done boys.

The First Year footballers played a challenge match against St. Muredach’s of Ballina in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence last Thursday. Well done boys!

Mrs O’ Connor’s First Year French class put their language skills to good use when they visited Roscommon Arts Centre last Tuesday for a screening of ‘La Petite Bande’. It is so important to engage with opportunities to put their learning into practice and the boys had a wonderful time.
