Castlerea singer/songwriter Chris Duffy who recently launched his second CD in aid of the Sunflower Children’s Hospice has made a presentation of €2,500 from the sales of the CD to the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

Chris took on a cover of a song from the mid 70’s called, ‘I Don’t Want To Put No Hold On You’.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people without whom this presentation could not have been made,” he said.

“Special thanks to John Staunton, Annette griffin and David Leddy who were involved in creating the CD to such a high standard. Thanks to Debra Dowler of Debra Communications in Longford for her professionalism and expertise in getting the CD distributed to 1,000 radio stations world-wide. Thanks to all the shops, too many to mention, who took on the sale of the CDs. Without your support this project could not have taken place,” he said.

Chris added: “To the newspapers and radio stations your support meant so much. A special mention must go to Paul Carrington of Shannonside Radio, Mildred Beirne from Midwest Radio, Adrianne Murphy from Ros FM who interviewed me on two occasions as well as helping sell some of the CD’s.

Also thanks to Aonghus McDonagh from the Roscommon Herald for writing two articles to help promote the project.

“Thanks to Eugene Murphy who allowed me to take part in his cabaret show to relaunch the single. Eugene puts a lot of work into these cabaret shows on a Tuesday night and deserves to be supported. Thanks to all the acts that turned up on the night, thank you so much for helping make the night so memorable - Kevin Logue, Teresa Marie Canavan, Paul Carrington, Donal O’Connor, John Staunton, Annette Griffin, and Camillus Egerton, you are all stars.

“A sincere thank you to everyone who went out and bought a copy of the CD.

And also a big thank you to the people who voted each week on the Irish radio.org chart bringing the song into the number five position.

“It would be very remiss of me not to mention the original singer and writer of the song, Berni Flint, what an amazing song, it brought back a lot of memories for a lot of people of a certain age. A sincere thank you to the team on the Castlerea round up, which airs every Sunday at 8.30 p.m.. This constant support of my many projects means a lot. To Sarah Lavin of Lisalway Ballons, thanks for your support.

“Finally thank you to Martina Jennings CEO of Mayo/Roscommon Hospice,” said Chris.
