A number of hardy souls are set to brave the icy waters of Lough Arrow when they take part in the annual Christmas Day Swim in aid of North West Hospice.
Celebrating its 25th year the swimmers and organisers are hoping to raise €5,000 as a result of this year’s plunge into the frigid lake.
The swim is set to take place at 1 p.m. sharp from Flynn’s Pier with registration at 12.30 p.m..
The group has set up a fundraising page and donations can be made at justgiving.com/page/lough-arrow-christmas-day-swim-2025.
Organisers state, “Now in its 25th year the Lough Arrow Christmas Day Swim is an annual fundraiser which helps raise much needed funds for the North West Hospice in Sligo.
“We have set up a fundraising page where you can donate as much as you can to the North West Hospice. Every little helps.
“North West Hospice provides specialist care with compassion for those living with life-limiting illness in our Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan.
“To maintain our current level of service, we must raise over €1 million every year from fundraising events, voluntary contributions, donations and bequests.
“This is a huge challenge, which we can only meet through the generosity and goodwill of individuals and groups in our community.”
Members of the public are invited along to encourage and cheer on the swimmers on Christmas Day.
