A North Roscommon GAA club has suspended all club activities as a mark of respect following the sad passing of a young mother.

St Michael's GAA club said, "It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Irene Cryan, beloved wife of Michael and loving mother to Conor, Sinead and Aoife.

"On behalf of everyone in the club, we extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to Michael, Conor, Sinead & Aoife and the wider Cryan & Barry families at this incredibly difficult time.

"As a mark of respect, all club activities are suspended until further notice. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cryan family and all who knew and loved Irene. May Irene Rest in Peace."

St Ronan's GAA club also stated, "It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Irene Cryan, beloved mother of Sinéad, Conor and Aoife, and a valued FLO within our combined underage teams. Irene will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

"On behalf of everyone in St. Ronan’s GAA and LGFA, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Irene’s beloved husband, Michael, and to her children, Sinéad, Conor and Aoife, at this very sad time. We stand with our friends in St. Michael’s GAA & LGFA Club at this difficult time, and remember Irene’s extended family, friends, neighbours and the many people whose lives she touched. May Irene Rest in Eternal Peace."
