Council announces St. Brigid’s Day Festival
Roscommon County Council has announced details of a St. Brigid’s Day Festival.
Roscommon County Council has announced details of a St. Brigid’s Day Festival, a county-wide celebration of creativity, heritage, and community.
Taking place from January 30th to February 6th, the festival will honour St. Brigid and the traditions that continue to inspire Irish culture.
Brigid is connected to the return of spring and to the skills that shaped Irish cultural life – caring for the land and animals and the work of crafting, creating, and writing.
Across Roscommon her day will be marked with workshops, music, storytelling, exhibitions and community events for all ages.
This year’s programme features a mix of craft workshops, music and dance, poetry sessions, exhibitions, and talks across Boyle, Tulsk, and Strokestown, as well as in-school activities for local students.
Festival Highlights Include:
Boyle - craft workshops, St. Brigid’s cross-making, Irish music and dancing, and art sessions; Tulsk - talks, followed by the launch of an exhibition by Natalie Folan at Rathcroghan Visitor Centre; Strokestown - creative writing and poetry workshop at Strokestown Park House with Amy Barry.
The festival reflects St. Brigid’s connection to creativity, nature, and community – values that remain central to Roscommon’s cultural life.
There will be activities for all ages. The festival is supported by the Roscommon Creative Ireland Programme.
