Roscommon County Council’s Environment Department has confirmed that it has completed a significant clean-up of an illegal dumping site in Ballaghaderreen.

The area was littered with household waste along with some bulky items – waste that should have never been dumped.

The local authority said that illegal dumping harms our communities and our environment.

“We are fortunate to live in a beautiful county—please help us keep it that way,” it said.

The council advised people to always use authorised waste collectors.

“If someone cannot provide a valid waste collection permit, do not hand over your wast you could face a fine.

"We urge all residents to stay vigilant and report any incidents of illegal dumping. Call - 1800 588888. Email - environment@roscommon.ie."
