Council seeks further information on major Lough Key development
A major development is being planned at Lough Key Forest and Activity.
Roscommon County Council is seeking further information from Coillte on plans to carry out major works to enhance and expand facilities at Lough Key Forest and Activity Park.
Coillte's planning application includes proposals to build a new aqua park facility, a climbing wall attraction at Moylurg Tower involving two new ziplines, along with minigolf, tubing track, net adventure, rope courses and mini junior karting.
The plans also include a new single storey extension at the existing visitor centre and enhancement of the Adventure Play Kingdom.
It is further planned to develop the camping site to include 20 new glamping pod bases along with improved car parking.
Coillte lodged the planning application in early January and a decision on the development was due today, Wednesday, March 4th.
However, the council is now seeking further information on the project in a number of areas.
They include queries on traffic, road safety, nature conservation and details of the methodology for cleaning of the proposed aquapark facility.
Coillte have six months to respond to the council’s information request.
The development is being co-funded by the Government and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund.
