The Strokestown Community Playground Committee has been forced to close the town's playground due to vandalism.

A County Roscommon community group has been forced to shut a children's playground due to continued vandalism.

The Strokestown Community Playground Committee announced on its social media page that "due to continued vandalism at our community  playground, the playground is now deemed dangerous for our children to play in. It is with deep regret that the committee has had to make the decision to close the playground until further notice."

The committee said that it continued to fundraise for repairs and insurance costs, and donations could be made at SCDA office.
