County Roscommon pub destroyed by fire four years ago set to reopen its doors

A popular County Roscommon pub, which was destroyed by a fire over four years ago, is set to reopen its doors later this afternoon Saturday, September 5th.

Ging’s  Bar, Carrick-on-Shannon, will welcome back customers for the first time since August 2022 at 4 p.m..

Announcing the reopening, the owners said that the long road to reopening had been laden with twists and turns, and thanked everyone for their support.

“It's been a long road with a lot of ups and downs, but we think it's been worth it. It's still Ging's, but with a new old-world, cosy look," they said.

“Everything has been salvaged from old timber, the original stone walls, and some beautiful old signs and memorabilia. We'd like to thank everyone for their support over the past few years and for always asking about Ging's. It is very much appreciated.

“We're really looking forward to welcoming back familiar faces from the past, and new ones too.”

The pub, located on the County Roscommon side of the bridge in Carrick-on-Shannon, was badly damaged when a fire ripped through the premises on August 14th, 2022.
